The tradition of High tea has been credited to Anna, Duchess of Bedford. In 1840 lunches were light and large dinners were held at a fashionably late evening hour. The Duchess, who suffered "a sinking feeling" around four o'clock in the afternoon, would have her servants sneak her a pot of tea and some breadstuffs. She began inviting friends to join her and soon other hostesses were making this practice popular.
”R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum is proud to host their 3rd Annual High Tea on Sunday May 27th from 1-3pm. You are invited to join in this lovely tradition of tea, delicate sandwiches and succulent treats, set among the …
We live in a time where the three R's are instilled into us, and yet we still see so much waste go to the dumps. It was this waste, from one local mans trip to the dump, that sparked this great small business idea. Shoppers at Pinz boardshop have probably noticed the great belt buckles, made of recycled pieces of broken skateboards, that are a popular seller. What they may not know is that these great pieces of wearable art are made locally, using the broken boards which are often left at Pinz when new boards are purchased.
Local skateboard enthusiast, Pinz board tech, and wood artist Lee Mulroy works out of a small workshop behind …
Vancouvers "Mud Bay Blues" is the next act to grace the stage of Grindrods Riverfront Pub this coming Sunday. There has been many changes in the line up since the group started in 1978, but the performance stays the same, the very performance that has earned them spots with greats such as Stevie Ray Vaughn. With a tag line like "This aint your average blues band" we are sure this is a show music lovers of the Shuswap are going to want to attend!
Jim Leduc is a multi-instrumentalist and performing songwriter from the North Shuswap.

One of the featured Songwriters in the third show of the very popular Songwriters Showcase Series on May 26, at The Salmon Arm Art Gallery will be Brad Ulmer.
"Brad currently lives on an organic farm / wildlife sanctuary with his first and second wife Amanda, four dogs, a three legged cat and a roving flock of Guinea hens, turkeys, chickens and peacocks.

There has to be something in the water in the Shuswap for us to be able to produce so much talent, per capita, compared to many other locations. There is no exception to this when it comes to the talent of former Painted Birds member Dominique Fricot. This mans talent stands much taller then he does (and he towers over the crowd) with his songwriting abilities, his emotion evoking vocals, and his guitar work driving him forward. "Charisma cannot be taught. It cannot be practiced in a rehearsal space. You cannot take a course on charisma. Dom has it. He has it in spades.”(Marty Zylstra of Vancouver’s Sweetheart).

Edmontons All Else Fails has become a favorite amongst Shuswap metal lovers, not only for their music but the energy of their live performance. Having palyed multiple shows in Salmon Arm over the past few years their fan base has really grown, many, who may not be a fan of the style of music, going on to rave about the stage energy that this group portrays.
All Else Fails intricate guitar playing, and lyrical masterpieces, along with their influences of punk, metal and rock blended with experimental and classical techniques gives them a sound that stands above the rest of the genre, allowing them to build a sound all their own. …
Two of my favorite things about the month of May are the vibrancy of the colours of spring and the fact that a lot of music moves from indoors to outdoors. Nico's Nurseryland has a combination of these two amazing spring transformations every Saturday during the month, as their garden centre comes alive with the spring plants and live music.
That's right, they add live music to add to that already amazing array of senses that their garden and pond tend to ignite. The month of Saturdays start off this Saturday with Axian performing a live acoustic show featuring their great guitar work and harmonizing vocals. Patrons and visitors can catch …
